Take your foot of his neck he canae breath.
“You think you’re the smartest bird there is? Where everyone alive has to bow and scrap and lick your boots…given any trouble, all you got to say is ‘my father,’ and that’s it. All your troubles are gone…have you got something to say? Careful. You don’t want to say the wrong thing. You’re nothing without your daddy. Your daddy ain’t here, never forget that…”
Not really that funny knowing what they often do to pigeons
Was walking through a square in my city a couple of weeks ago and saw a black-backed gull start tearing a (until that moment) live pigeon to pieces.
Other pigeons within a few metres barely even reacted.
Nature is brutal.
I don’t think the people who think this is heartless really get it. The horror of it is the source of the humor. It’s supposed to be appalling, the point of humor like this is to twist the knife. The sad little “bred?” at the end makes this obvious. I have a story about my dead dog Cooper that I sometimes tell, about how he would still carry around his frisbee after he was too old and arthritic to chase it, almost as if every time he went out and saw the sun bouncing off that little plastic disc in the grass, he thought maybe the pain would leave and he’d be able to run and jump again, free from pain. He was a silly forgetful old dog. The most sensitive people, crack up hearing this story, not because there’s a clever twist to it, and not because they’re assholes; laughter is really a natural reaction to some awful things.
The story is about my dog, so I know too well which specific details are the most grotesquely sad, and I emphasize those details. People find this to be funny. This joke here, demonstrates, that the person who made the joke, knows exactly how sad and terrible it is. Someone with no empathy wouldn’t find this funny, empathy is required for the shock that the joke operates on. I don’t understand people who can’t cross this bridge with humor. Tragic things that are funny, aren’t funny despite being tragic, they’re funny BECAUSE they’re so tragic. This also applies to all kinds of “offensive” jokes. Understanding why they are offensive, is fundamental to “getting” offensive humor, and has nothing to do with approval or disapproval.
