So basically if you’re a gay praying mantis you’ve won the lottery

According to a peer-reviewed scientific study I just made up, this is why 70% of male Praying Mantises become gay.

They don’t *always* eat the males. Pretty much only if he irritates her or if she is starving.

Also, the reason for this is that they produce more eggs like a lot more eggs if she eats her mate. Evolutionary, that means the male’s genes are passed on further than if he isn’t eaten.

I read that over 80% of males avoid sexual cannibalism by slowly dismounting and waiting for the opportune time to dismount to avoid being eaten.
